What is BIMI?

BIMI, or Brand Indicators for Message Identification, is a standard that allows brands to associate their logos with their email messages and display the logos in the email client of the recipient. It is designed to help improve the visibility and recognizability of branded emails and to protect against email spoofing and phishing attacks.

To use BIMI, a brand must first publish a BIMI record in their domain's DNS records. The BIMI record includes the URL of a verified SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) file that contains the brand's logo, as well as information about the verification process and the domain's DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) policy.

When a recipient's email client receives an email from the brand, it can retrieve the BIMI record from the DNS and use it to display the brand's logo in the email client. This helps to improve the visibility and recognizability of the branded email and to protect against email spoofing and phishing attacks, as it allows the recipient to verify the authenticity of the email easily.

BIMI is still a relatively new standard and is not yet widely supported by email clients. However, it is expected to become more widely adopted as more brands adopt BIMI and more email clients begin to support it.
